Ok ok, I hear complaints that I’m getting too lazy le… so here I am! 小明 is back le! =D
Speech Day 2006 (11th May) - and the much awaited day is finally over! The 4/7-nians started streaming back to Anderson around 4++p.m. with the earliest ones being the usual few… (but of course, I‘m still the earliest of them all…) After Shiyun (that crazy girl - always so early for nothing de =P) spent some time wandering in school wondering where all the others are, Ying Chern arrived! Oh… and with a nice big chocolate cake for Mrs. Lim too… (I imagined that the cake would taste nice, judging from its appearance) Thanks to the library people (ie. Mr. George and the library comm ppl), the chocolate on the cake was ‘preserved’ in the new fridge in the library… (though Ying Chern said that it wouldn’t melt so quickly anyway…)
Ok, the concert was over long ago (last week, 19th March), and I’m a bit late to blog about it now, but…
One thing of note, why did so few 4/7nians turn up?! *sob sob…* Only Zhi Kai, Ji Hao2, Mabel, Shiyun and Leslie (ask Mabel or Shiyun or Hui Min who this guy is ^^) went… Defeng and Evonne turned up after some er… persuasion by the others (coercion really). Of course, I did too… Due to some unfortunate twist of events (again), we ended up fashionably late and wasted around $1.70 cents each waiting for… someone.
The concert itself was nice. Especially Mrs. Lim’s song… & Ms. Goh (the Chem teacher) surprised her by getting her husband to give her flowers… (which is so sweet!!) And the 4/7 band members all received flowers too. (which goes to show - 4/7nians are still the nicest people around… ^^) And… tt’s it. (i know nothing about music… so i’d better not comment on their performance, but their playing sounds nice anyway…)
(Gah! Can’t get this entry to sound interesting or fun enough… 小明 is losing his touch at writing)
And btw, PW sounds… horrible.
Emm, why so many people posting with their own identity de. I, Xiao Ming, should be the only one posting ma. Haha, just joking. I very friendly and selfless de, like my cousin’s friend’s cousin’s friend Casper:P
Anyway, with regards to the mentoring thingy,
Clar suggested that we should try to involve the whole class. No excuses like “i very stupid de” hor, that’s why there’s the show “i not stupid” ma. Through this CIP mentoring thingy, we will be able to hang out with each other more often, as well as been able to know our juniors in Anderson better.
The current system is one whereby mentors are just attached to 2-3 students, and continue for a year only. After that; finish, end, fullstop, whatever you call it. This is obviously not very beneficial and fun for both parties.
What we are suggesting is that, we have the same system of mentoring. but in addition to this, we have things like senior and junior classes, and they become our friends instead of just “another Andersonian from the other batch”. We will also have informal meetings and gatherings, like JTS [eyes brighten;)], STJ, and so on. It then becomes a friendship kind of thing instead of just mentoring.
and this is only phase one of the project….
In the near future, we will also involve other classes like s46 and s43, and other classes. If possible, we will also like this to be between sec 3 and sec 4 classes, instead of the JC people and andersonians. If we can further spread this project down the level, and make it into a continuing culture, then we can truly say that the “Andersonian spirit burns on”. Woah, a remarkable goal!
Well, that is not quite possible to be achieved by us pioneers. But if we could pave a straight nice tar road for them, i am sure that that could happen within 5 years.
Despite having said so much, we are not that confident that it will be successful, since we are the pioneers (or guinea pigs). But we hope that we can get as many 47 people involved as possible. It’s not compulsory, but……ya…… you know what i am trying to say. We hope to get like 20 to 43 people before we execute anything, so do drop your name down under comments or the tag board.
PS: yea, i, Xiao Ming the wandering soul, casted a spell on all the MOE people le. You, all of you, will definitely get into your desired JC de. Haha. So don worry, cos Xiao Ming is here!
